What’s the next kitchen item you plan to buy (2025)?

DH cleaned the bowl of my Food Processor and it was sitting on the kitchen counter next to my desk, waiting to be put away by me (he still does get where it goes )
And I see this

OH MY!
I have a second bowl, pulled that one out, same thing - NOT GOOD.
From what I was reading, this could be a safety hazzard.
So I went to "Giggle" and the machine that I own is still rank in the top 10 - so - I went over their website and ordered a new work bowl as well as a metal blade, the one I have was a bit bent.

You rotate the bowl counter clockwise to lock it in?

Yes, an electric Parmesan cheese grater. I've got a manual one, which involves my turning the handle faster than a drunken hamster in a wheel.
Something like this: Parmesan grater might just mitigate my oncoming arthritis.
I might also mention that we eat pasta over here more frequently than Tasty, Puggles and JAS (combined) eat pizzas. :hyper: :hyper:
I like the idea but I think I’ll stick with the parmesan disc for the food processor.
I’d be interested to know how you get on with it and how long it lasts 👍

We've just had to buy a new lid to the 2L vitamix blender jug. It's still under warranty but someone threw the receipt away. That'll be the same someone who threw away the key to the bike rack whilst it was still locked to the car...

I’ll say that that’s the one advantage to buying things online - there’s a digital record of purchase available with just a few clicks of a mouse.

I’m horrible about keeping paper receipts, because I can’t stand having bits and bobs of loose paper in my pockets, and MrsT is the opposite - she thinks every receipt has to be retained for some obscure legal reason.

She has receipts of restaurant meals we ate six months ago, fuel purchases we made while on vacation two years ago…she has cancelled checks of our electric bills from the 1990’s - “Don’t throw those out, we might need that!”

Why? Is the utilities company from San Antonio going to call us up nearly 35 years later, claiming we didn’t pay our bill for October 1991?

Just the other day, she was badgering me about a receipt for something she’d bought while we were out together. She started with, “You didn’t throw that receipt away, did you?!” in that tone of voice that says she already knows I did.

Before I could answer, she continued, complaining that I never keep receipts and I lose us too much money because we can’t take things back and I should be more mindful and we’re not made o’ money…on and on.

I just let her continue, until she stopped and looked at me, expecting a sheepish apology, when I pointed out that we’d bought and paid for what she was yammering on about through the store’s app, and she was right there when we did, so of course there’s no paper receipt - it’s in their app.

Well, that quieted things down quite a bit, didn’t it?!

I have a three-ring binder that I keep receipts for items purchased and once that item is no longer in our procession out it goes.
The other thing I do for kitchen item, such as small appliances, is I tape an envelope on to the box it lives in with the printed receipt.

Yes. There was a digital receipt but the provider only keeps in on their system for 2 years and this device is 6 or 7 years into a 10 year warranty. And my OH refuses to search through our records on visa to prove anything. Because of the way the banking system is set up here, I don't have access to Visa to do this myself. The new lid only cost AU$75 so about £37.50 and that's my OH. He'd rather just pay that than get a new one under warranty.

I have photographs of my receipts now because of issues, but some how missed that one. In fact it was my photographs that secured us a refund of over 10 times that amount when our battery operated lawnmower broke. The self propeller bit stopped working and no new models had it in stock. My photographs secured the AU$800 refund.

That’s me as well, in that case, anyway. I’d do some quick mental math and figure out that that’s worth about 20 minutes of my time, tops, and I’d use half of that ordering a new one, so…I’d spend 10 minutes looking through the Visa records, then I’d order a new one.

If something costs over £50 I put the receipt on an old fashioned paper spike. I have two, one for receipts and one for proof of posting slips. Works well because they’re naturally kept in date order.
But the sight of them frightens me so they have to live on the top of a book case in the study 😂
