What’s the next kitchen item you plan to buy (2026)?

I'm getting a compact in-sink disk rack to free up some countertop space when drying the dishes.

Very beautiful tho. What size was it?

I've been looking at those recently thinking I *need* a cast-iron wok.
I went to Goodwill just because and found this 14" Joyce Chen brand carbon steel wok, with a lid, for $9.73 out the door!

I found on Amazon to buy both items would be around $53. ☹️

I cleaned the wood, scoured the steel with a plastic scrubby using salt and baking soda, and tightened everything with threads.

Now if Goodwill only sold sprouts...

Been a long minute since I owned any carbon steel so I'll have to read up on seasoning.

How d'you like this gizmo? It's a rice cooker cup I bought in Japan last year. Cost me like £2. You stick the rice in it (there's a line inside) and then put on the outer lid (the one upside-down on the counter). You gush tap water through the hole then swill it all around to wash it, then tip it out and repeat. Bang it on the counter to make the rice all go to the bottom and then add water (there's another line) then put in the inner lid and then the outer lid. Microwave it for 10 mins and your rice is ready. It's just nice for two people.

Here's a piece of crapola; friend of my wife's gave it to her as a present. You put in some eggs and then pour in boiling water (there are lines to tell you how much) which percolates down, supposedly leaving you with soft boiled eggs. We tried it out and we got two raw eggs lol. I used room-temp eggs as well.

I'm not keeping it around. It will be quietly disappeared or parts of it may turn up as plant pots or for keeping screws in or something IDK.

What brand is it? I've tried cooking rice in the microwave but it just doesn't seem to come out right.

Nah! If I'm gonna go through all that, I might as well get out a small pot or the rice cooker.
