What did you cook/eat today (June 2017)

If you were able to follow the questionable decision making in my post, you'll see that it's less about regional cooking and more about a descent into madness...
Descend you did! Still, one must have mishaps in order to create perfection.

I also decided to make this to give me a vague idea that I was having something healthy for lunch:

Those remind me of my favorite appetizer from TGIFriday's back when they were good. Like in the early 1980s. Nothing like your recipe, but they would pack a spicy cheese glop around the broccoli floret, then batter and deep fry them. Lordy, they were good! Yours look good, too, in a different way. I'd probably mix up a spicy cheese sauce for dipping....

Hamburger patties, cauliflower in cheese sauce, boiled onion, and mixed vegetables.

I stuffed chicken breasts with prosciutto, provolone and parmesan. Breaded and baked in olive oil. On rotini. Then photographed it in the dark, apparently...

Last night, having spent the entire day out and having nothing prepared (there was a vague plan at the weekend that I would be making a pie) we baled to the local chippy. It also does pizza, burgers, fish and everything else. I have to say I enjoyed the journey home because I had a lovely warm container of very hot, freshly made chips on my knee. After a few forays into the unknown (it was dark by that time), I came up with something other than chips. It seems that my husband can't be trusted to only purchase chips and I found an onion ring or two. I think he spent an entire AUD $6 on the lot. He knows how to spoil a lady. So it was chip butties for tea last night. I did consider photographing them, but it was dark, they were getting cold and I had a fire to re-kindle. Not to mention some chickens were complaining about not being fed (despite having loads of feed out).

Getting pretty cold here so penne arrabiata - with bacon & black olives plus a big salad with goats cheese & walnuts..
Hi Frizz

What kind of temps are you dropping down to now? We've typically only been dropping down to -4C at night with a max day time temp of about 13-15C (when sunny). Last night was a balmy warm 0C here but today is dull grey and overcast and I really wish that the chicks I am raising didn't need to be 'escorted' whilst out with my flock but they are still being socialised and introduced to the flock and one of my roosters can't be trusted with them (he goes tomorrow luckily). I will say that after 7 weeks of below sub zero temps at night, last night felt warm!

Sausage defrosted, I was able to make the Italian sausage-bell peppers-onions saute over polenta tonight. I'm embarrassed to say how little of the sausage, etc. is left...

Here you go ...Aberdeen Angus minced beef..Ayrshire new potatoes and processed peas View attachment 8061

I used to buy Aberdeen Angus minced beef for my chili con carne in the 80's. Far superior to the minced beef sold in Chester and the same price! I had to haul it from Aberdeen though.
