What did you cook or eat today: August 2025?

My friend taught me how to make cottage cheese. I cant have milk, but it’s always worth learning a new skill. Online “ recipes” are terrible! My first solo attempt was with sour milk. ( Only Major problem when you can’t test the ingredients. ) Second attempt, I thought was fail too, but she showed me to put back on the heat to separate the curds. Voila.

And the whey can be used to make bread, pancakes etc.

Tried something new:

This and a small Green Salad was plenty and quite good actually.

Babysitting the 6 year old grandson. Bought some store bought crusts and walked him through making his own. About a solid inch of shredded cheese on it. I made my own. I watch him every Tuesday evening so next week we will make something else. He loves being in the kitchen and making things. Got him showering and then laying out his clothes for tomorrow. His mother will be home in an hour so I want everything done before she gets home. But it was fun in the kitchen with him.

Never have I ever ...

... Ordered our meal from a restaurant and had it delivered !!!!!
This is from an Italian-style eatery that we would go to on occasion in The Big City when we went through or did a stay-cation when we lived in S.AZ
DELISH!
We've got enough food to feed us another meal AND a coupla lunch with all of the bread ... I'll just go up the street from our hotel and get lunch meats and cheese... DONE!

I've ditched pasta and rice for a while to help drop some weight, so cauliflower and a couple of loose sprouts in the bottom of the fridge were paired with a chilli from the freezer. We're still eating our way thrush the freezers. I might photo the progress tomorrow.

We went out last night to Big Bear Brewing Company – American Grill and both had burgers. No appetizer this time so I actually was able to finish mine, though I did skip part of the bun and knife and fork it toward the end. Black and blue burger for me, though I did remove the bacon and bring it home for the pugs, not a bacon on a burger fan. I get this a good half of the time when we visit here. Craig had the chipotle burger for the first time. He said it was a good burger, but not very chipotle-ish. I also had a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, which is 1 of only a very few beers I like.
