What did you cook or eat today: August 2025?

Scrambled eggs and rice with garden fresh chili's and tomatoes with a splash of teriyaki sauce. Pulled the oyster sauce from the fridge but it was way to thick to pour and too tall for the microwave.

Still in the hotel "camping out", so I had to improvise

This is one of our favorite meals and I figured comfort food was going to help both of us mellow out after the time that we've had over the past coupla days.
Granted, I spent more money on this than I would have back in Cowboyville AZ, but that's okay.
Sushi of each diners choice, Edamame served in a skillet, `cuz no big bowls here, Pork Dumplings aka Gyoza and are beloved Aloha brand Shoyu (Soy Sauce) with some of the provided Wasabi (not really but, ssshhh).
I remember now how I dislike smooth-top electric cook tops ... It took an hour to get the water in the dutch oven to boil to heat the Edamame and Gyoza --- oh well, we had a nice supper.
AND we have a little bit of everything left for lunch tomorrow!

You've been missing something in your hotel meals...

Not our cup of tea sort of Rice. I was going to bring along some of our own, pre-cooked, but DH suggested that we buy all of our food down here rather than schlep stuff back and forth.

Took the remaining uncooked boudin mix I had and baked it into 3 mini sausage loaves. Six oz. each and freezer ready, maybe. Pippi is loving boudin and so am I now that I don't have to wait for family to go to NOLA, New Orleans LA, and bring it back. Smoked paprika on the top. 🤤View attachment 132333
Now you've got me wanting andouille. Louisiana style andouille, not that French stuff.

Dinner that was going to be for tonight ...

I was going to throw this all on the gas grill out back by the pool of the hotel, but alas, that is not to be.
it's a brand new grill they said, but it doesn't work, so ... it's a good thing that I have cheese, crackers, olive, salami and fruit ... that'll do for tonight. The hotel front desk gals were very apologetic and assured me that their maintenance guy will be in tomorrow and get it up and running for me so I can grill tomorrow.

We had that Rao’s frozen pizza I’d bought last week and a small side salad. Pizza was better than average, but suffers the same issue as every other frozen pizza…dry crust.

I also popped some popcorn from scratch, instead of having popcorn from those bags MrsT buys (no flavor). I finally have it down to just about as close to movie theater popcorn as it gets - coconut oil with beta carotene (that’s where the proper orange color of the popped corn comes from), superfine salt that’s also yellowish-orange (from turmeric), and a greasy buttery topping that’s some sort of laboratory creation.

The trick is in with the coconut oil and popcorn kernels, and once it’s up to heat, add in about half the salt and a good splash of the buttery topping. Pop it, into the bowl, then the rest of the salt, and a good drizzle of the topping.

MrsT kept saying, “Oh my god, this is so good…this is so good, oh my god…this is sooo good…”
