Well, tonight became a Long Island Iced tea, with a little extra added after the first go round night. My back was killing me after dinner last night and today, so I told Craig he needed to cook 1 of 2 very simple meals from our menu for the week. He picked the one he really likes, which also happens to be the easiest by far.
I got everything out he needed, other than butter and white wine from the refrigerator, plus I scraped and cubed the carrots for the vegetable side, and parcooked them earlier in the day. He gets up to make dinner. I tell him to put a half stick of butter in the little Tovala pan and put it in the oven to melt while it preheats. Then, I tell him to fold down the paper on the rest of the butter stick and grease the pan. He asks me this pan? So, I sit up, was stretched out on couch, and look, and he has the little Tovala pan in his hand. He has the bigger baking pan (not a Tovala pan) in the oven to melt the butter, instead of the one I told him to use. We get that straightened out and he supposedly butters the baking pan. I tell him to open the package of Swiss cheese slices with Scissors (I've learned to be quite specific), and cut down the sides so he can remove 4 slices. I hear him huffing and puffing and cursing, because he's trying to pull all the slices out thru the top. If there's an easy way to do something, up to a very hard way, Craig will go for the hardest way possible ALL THE TIME. At this point, I tell him to do what I said and cut down the sides. He yells at me to shut the F up. I tell him to get me a small bowl down so I don't have to reach up, my back hurts remember, and to get out of the kitchen at that point because I can't take the stress, anxiety, anger anymore, and that he's messing up deliberately so I won't ask him to cook. He gets a soup bowl down instead of a mixing bowl, he's cooked this dish before, and I tell him I don't need that bowl, but a mixing bowl. I pick the baking dish up and it's only half buttered, and he pitches a fit because I re-butter it. Then, I mix the cream of mushroom soup with the white wine, trim worst of fat from B/s chicken thighs, put them in the baking pan, lay the swiss cheese slices on top, after i get 4 slices instead of the 3-2/3 he laid out, pour the soup mixture over, spread the dried stuffing mix out, drizzle with butter, then put in Tovala oven to bake. I also add frozen peas to the carrots.
About 15 minutes out from chicken being done, I ask him if he can manage to cook the noodles and finish up the vegetables. He says yes. Tell him to set the burner for the noodles on high to heat water and to leave the lid on, and that it will need salt when boiling before noodles go in. I then notice he's messing around on the other end of the stove where the vegetables are. He tells me he's turning the burner on. Ask him if I told him to do that, then say, the vegetables only need a few minutes to cook, about 6 minutes after the noodles go in the boiling water, certainly not now.
Anyway, no pics, still too irritated, but dinner ended up being good.
