• I’ve added a casual chat room to CookingBites as a place for off-topic banter, light conversation, and short-lived chit-chat that doesn’t belong in forum threads. The chat room is informal and lightly-to-not moderated, with messages being temporary, so it’s ideal for friendly back-and-forth that would otherwise derail discussions. Site rules still apply, but there’s no reporting system or expectation of post-by-post moderation - if something becomes uncomfortable, the right response is to step away. If a topic has substance or lasting value, it still belongs in the forums; everything else can head to chat.

What did you cook or eat today? (January 2026)

Just finsihed making a Tuna Salad:

40 minutes ago, I was just about to warm up some potato/cauliflower thingy I baked yesterday and
Power cut!
Lights back on so now I'm going to eat.
Ironically, we went up to my local for a beer and dinner, as we came home we noticed a power company truck working on the lines a couple of miles from our home. As we came into our town it was pitch black - naddah nuthin'!!! Turned into our road, got halway down and bingo - the power came on!!!!

When we loose power it generally takes them between 2 and 3 hours to get it back on, so we figure we lost power not long after we left - either that or I'm just electrifying! :D :D :D

Today it took too long to do all of my to do list. I ate the normal breakfast, one cup of steel oat, one fried egg, over easy, one piece of baguette with cherry jam. For lunch, I had 3 pieces of El Pollo chicken leg&thigh, no breast, 2 Algerian Fremont mandarins, one piece of banana bread.

This is what I just had for dinner, homemade yogurt with a bit of honey.
Literally I ate no vegetables the whole day. I hope I will be ok tomorrow.
