What did you cook or eat today? (January 2026)

Breaded Plaice, mash, petit pois and parsley sauce for my tea yesterday.

Pasta salad using left over bits and pieces (red peppers, baby cucumber, celery, mini plum tomatoes, made a sweet, sour and salty Asian style dressing).
Have managed to use up almost all the Christmas and New Year food. Hardly any waste this year, mostly thanks to those wooden platters with the clear lids - they see food, they eat it 😆
Only 1/3 pack of paté and one devilled egg binned, and only one thing frozen (Stilton because I had about four blocks too many 😂).
That makes me very happy 😊

You can freeze blue cheese?

You can freeze blue cheese?
Yes but like most cheese it does affect the texture a bit so I wouldn’t then serve it on a cheese board.
The Stilton that I froze I broke up and crumbled into pieces, it is laid out in a large freezer bag flat on a tray so I can just take a little bit when I want it. It will be perfect for sauces, dressings dips etc.

People make a big thing out of freezing cheese but it used to be a common thing to do, who cares if the cheese in your sandwich is crumbly? I actually like that in a sandwich 😊

Yep, you're going to chew it anyway!

Happy New Year, All! Cheers to a great 2026!

Aint much to look at, but these got a few of these Momofuku high protein noodles to try out and so far, so good. Really tasty. Added left over grilled chicken from a salad the other night. These are the spicy & tingly one, really nice heat by the end. I think they'll make a great base to add some chopped veggies and an egg to, as well.
