What did you cook or eat today (June 2025)?

Only half a dozen LOL?

Seriously though, when I lived in NW Florida and we were shucking oysters, we easily ate many more than that raw. Unfortunately, those days have flown for me and with all of the polluted waterways in the US where the oysters are harvested, I no longer will eat them raw. I would eat some of those NZ Bluff oysters that rascal gets, though.
That's the appetizer to hold you over while you figure what to eat. I can easily eat many more than that...

Feel you on the pollution. I don't eat them raw anymore either.

I'm having difficulty located coriander seeds. I have dried coriander leaf but I think it's probably not what they use in Mexican chorizo. Ugh. Walmart for some weird reason doesn't have it in stock. I am guessing there is a big difference in the flavor of the leaves vs. the ground seeds, but I don't know for sure. Anyone here know?

Well they do have McCormick ground coriander seed but it's over $5 for 1.2 oz. Guess I will just suck it up and pay it so I don't have to drive all over looking for it to save a few bucks, especially since I probably won't be using it that often from here on out.

I think you have Meijer close by, they may have it in stock. I just pulled up my location through their app and they have it here, so there’s a decent chance they’ll have it there…maybe.
Yeah, it's a 40 minute drive. I just sucked it up and put it on my Walmart order (over $5 for the 1.2 oz McCormick). but I would have spent a few bucks on gas and my time driving out to Meijer, so it's fine.

Edited to add 40 minute round trip.

Lunch at the beach ... Tuna Salad on white bread, loads of mayo for moi and some really nice locally grown lettuce.
The lettuce amazingly enough stayed crisp all morning long and it was delicious!

Are some poblanos hot? I have never had one that triggered any heat on my tongue whatsoever. I wonder why they say to grind them separately?

I am going to make some homemade Mexican chorizo. Getting ready to order my Mexican oregano since my dear husband cannot accompany me to the part of town (not safe) where the closest Hispanic market is.
Chilies can all vary in heat, but even the hottest poblanos aren't really.

The seeds go in at a different time than the chile flesh.

Seeds & leaves of coriander have a total different taste.
Many people hate coriander leaves (I love them) but will use the seed without a problem
Hard to believe you can't find them. They are everywhere here. I normally buy them at one of the many Indian or Lebanese shops

Yeah I found them, I just didn't want to pay the ridiculously expensive price. I have both dried and fresh leaves on hand. We don't have Indian or Lebanese shops near me.
