What did you cook or eat today (June 2025)?

I made that fascimile Branston that TastyReuben posted a link to here. It's kind of gloopy like SandwichShortOfAPicnic was saying and I'm definitely not putting it on a piece of govt. white bread that sticks to the roof of your mouth. 🤢

Isn't nutella just hazelnuts, cacao, sugar and oil?
Milk gets into everything, into plenty of places it should not. Even something as simple as a jam sandwich needs everything checking. Bread often has milk in it, particularly anything with the word soft in it, margarine frequently has butter in it or buttermilk, and even homemade jam can contain butter. It's used as a means to stop jam foaming when at the rolling boil, that one is an old wives trick. It's also one reason that maple syrup may not be vegetarian even, bacon is used for the same thing when reducing maple water to maple syrup.

Ingredients
Sugar, Vegetable fat (Palm), Hazelnuts (13%), Skimmed milk powder (8.7%), Fat Reduced cocoa powder (7.4%), Emulsifier (lecithin (soy)) (0,43%)(INS 322), Flavouring (0,075%).

ALLERGEN INFORMATION: contains HAZELNUTS, MILK, SOY.

I love experimenting and experiments

I've tried rösti.
No success
So I figure next time I grate my potatoes, push them through my fruit press, push out all liquid and fry. Gotta work :)

By the way, still love how you have gone about making flat breads instead of using the oven
Thank you. Your suggestion is saving food resources and power plus it's a lot faster than baking. 🙏

Rösti looks a lot like hash browns. I grate raw potatoes and add a bit of flour and then pan cook in some oil, usually butter. I'll add salt and pepper and sometimes garlic but that's mostly it. Shape in the pan, round, and small enough to flip over without issue.
