I’ve added a casual chat room to CookingBites as a place for off-topic banter, light conversation, and short-lived chit-chat that doesn’t belong in forum threads. The chat room is informal and lightly-to-not moderated, with messages being temporary, so it’s ideal for friendly back-and-forth that would otherwise derail discussions. Site rules still apply, but there’s no reporting system or expectation of post-by-post moderation - if something becomes uncomfortable, the right response is to step away. If a topic has substance or lasting value, it still belongs in the forums; everything else can head to chat.

I made some brinjal (eggplant) pickle - an Indian hot sauce . Yummy.
It took me a while to make it, so dinner (around 9pm) was penne pasta with homemade tomato sauce, pesto, and a dollop of cream.

Pork chops with Brussels sprouts and softend apples and onions. The Brussels sprouts are pan fried for color and then dusted with parmigiano reggiano and drizzled with a reduced balsamic vinegar.

A light evening meal...
I almost sliced the bread too thinly for peanut butter. The green is pistachio nut butter (or paste as it is literally translated) which is incredibly smooth, utterly delicious and very green. It's on the end piece of the loaf.

I wouldn't mind hunting but it's not allowed here. I can buy deer meat from a specialist butcher in november and december, the only seasons of the year where the Dutch are a little less frugal.

A simple chicken mayo salad wrap for me today for lunch - I have gone all 'fancy' though and sprinkled some garlic granules and onion granules in the mayonnaise!
