What did you cook or eat today? (October 2025)

Same here.
I think they needed more heavily seasoned. Or seared on both sides. Plus they certainly didn't need 4-1/4 hours of braising. Although the carrots were perfect.
Just not beefy enough tasting.
But definitely doable if you have some to use up.
I don't like cooking carrots since they take so long. I've found 8 min. @ high pressure in the IP they're perfect. I'll cook a bunch and then use as needed putting in whatever at the end. 👍🕰️

Yeah…but how was it?

I eat at McD’s once a week, always the same thing, sit in the same seat (unless someone is is sitting there, then I sit nearby and glare at them), but I rarely eat breakfast there. I’m fairly certain I’ve never had an Egg McMuffin.
You mean to say that you've not even made a version of it at home?
I do that all the time, we rarely if ever any longer eat at McDonald's.

BK gives me heartburn if I eat their whopper before mowing the lawn (fast riding mower).
It's that smoke taste they add to the burgers.

That said, the local BK has two whopper juniors for 5 bucks
I saw the sign yesterday. Might be worth the four minute drive over there while my slow cooker cooks slowly.
Me too!
I remember when they first opened in Hawaii and DH & I went maybe two are three times and said the same thing, not for us.

At the weekend cookouts a person always supplied a case of their frozen hamburgers. Granted, it was a grilled hamburger, so you couldn't go wrong, but that liquid smoke flavor was always there.

Trying to use up stuff that needs to be used up, so it was BFD* night, scrambled eggs with sliced potatoes, onions, peppers, and cheese stirred in.

*Breakfast for Dinner, which I’m morally opposed to, but sometimes, things have to give a little.

Supper for us two

I found two grilled Sausages in the freezer inside the house the other day and had about a quarter of a small head of Cabbage, all needing to be used up.

I pulled out my container of rendered Bacon Grease, it lives permanently in the `fridge and is replenished as we go along, chopped up that bit of Green Cabbage, half of a Sweet White Onion, some Garlic (or in my case Jarlic), some fried Potato Cubes (think Home Fries) and said Sausages, diced up.

All day long, DH kept asking, "what's for dinner?" and when I told him what I was making (over and over again, because he doesn't remember things) ... "AHHHHH, really? Can't we have something good?" [please insert whiny 10 year old little brat boy voice here]
SAY WHAT?
I've made this dish probably 100 times in our life together, and he's always enjoyed it.
But with this beautifully smokey Kielbasa from Texas, it's cranked up a 100,000 times over the standard supermarket stuff, believe me when I tell you this! AND, I had put it on the grill/BBQ to bump it up farther!!

Moi: BRAH! you like this dish, we've had it several times, really!
DH: [moping] can't we have something else?
Moi: NO, we're eating what's in the house [as she turns on her heel and goes off to do something else]

It was 🤬 delicious!!!
AND DH ate every bit on his plate, all the while saying, "MMM, this is really good, we've had this before and I liked it!"
