What did you cook or eat today? (October 2025)

I've never eaten one (as an adult anyway) but I imagine that they are like crab cakes, salmon cakes, etc. only with Asian seasonings?

Well that is what I thought but it seemed odd to have it with the catfish, hence my query.

Edit: I think it might be a different thing. Something like this: Eomukguk (Fish cake soup).

Maybe Barriehie can give us some clarification, but I am not too sure because I did see some Korean and Thai fishcake recipes and they looked much, much different. Although the skewers would explain how they aren't falling apart in the soup.

I also seem to remember kaneohegirlinaz lamenting not being able to get fishcakes in Cowboyville, so maybe she knows something about the subject?

What are you meaning by fishcake?

kaneohegirlinaz hit it on the head with the kamaboko. That piece with the pink outside. This link is the closest to fish cake as it was presented to me. It doesn't fall apart when it's cooked; it's kind of like Spam is to pork this is to fish. Sort of...

Edit: Here's an idea. I'll get some of that crummy frozen white fish at Walmart and I bet I can make some bang up fishcake. Cool, another kitchen project. 👍
