Hopefully this joke will be understandable. Unless it's only Portuguese drivers of Honda Civic that like to drive above the speed limit

What’s funny about that is, depending on which style of Honda Civic you have, here its considered one of the least cool “sensible” cars you can own. About the only thing worse is a Chevy Malibu or Toyota Corolla.

MrsT’s car is a Civic, and the thought of her ripping down the road in her 4-door sedan at 3AM is indeed hilarious.

The Civic VTEC two-door models had their heyday in the US twenty years ago. They were the early "ricers" in the Hothatch segment created by the VW GTi. The car was Honda's attempt at a VW GTi. VW even made an ad campaign for the US built around the "ricer" fad. BTW, I owned a VW GTi in the early 2000s. They far outclassed the Japanese competition, and is still the standard-bearer for the Hothatch category, along with the MINI CooperS, which sold big for a while, but VW's GTi has been around since the late 70s, and is still around.

Here in Portugal the Honda Civic is a popular car with illegal racers and people who modify their cars. Another typical offender is the Seat Ibiza.

SEAT is part of the VW family. It is built o a platform shared with the Volkswagen Polo, the Skoda Fabia and the Audi A1. It’s essentially a smaller, lighter variant of what’s under all of the VW Group’s transverse-engine cars.
