What new food or ingredient would you like to try for the first time in 2017?

Wahey :woot: - I tried a dragon fruit last night. Bought it at the supermarket, got it home, all excited to try this madly unusual looking thing, and what a disappointment; it was like a tasteless pear. :(

Not that they taste much different but was the flesh of yours white or red? I'm told that generally only around 5% are red.

So what other "exciting" or unusual foods could I try? Any suggestions?

I guess that you've tried passion fruit?

Yeah, the flesh was white. Haven't tried lychees, what are they?

I believe this is called "sapote" (unless anyone knows different).

Guava? With salt and chili powder dip?

Waitrose have them tinned (£1). I don't think you will get fresh this time of year. They are very good paired with shellfish.

Lychees are delicious. Perfumed...even the tinned are excellent.

Longan is similar in both texture and taste. The skin is akin to a thick soft egg shell.
