Wooden Cutting Boards - Use And Care

I have several, but my favorite is very heavy and I keep it on my mobile-wheeled chopping island (granite topped) next to my knife block. But, most of the time I put those plastic sheets over the top of the wooden board when I am using it, especially if I am cutting or working with something smelly like fish, garlic, or onions. I put those in the dishwasher for sterilization when finished. I think the wood block is pretty so it's really more aesthetically pleasing than utilized.

I mostly use this one, very happy with this. I think this one is teak too. I also would like to know the correct way to maintain it (teak oil maybe?)

18-in X 24-in, 15 lbs. I should have plenty of room on this one.

Now I've got to get it good and oiled up. With a new board, I follow the old adage, "Once a day for a week, once a week for a month, once a month for a year, and as needed after that."
So you're 5 years in! How's it holding up? Post a pic? I just got my teak board and am still in the oiling it steps.

Here's mine.

It’s doing very well for me - still looks new. I’ll get a pic in the daylight tomorrow and post it.

One thing I like about it is that it needs very, very little oil. That other one, the maple board, that thing sucks up oil like a sponge.

I've noticed, day 2 of oiling, it stands out where it doesn’t need it. Really hard wood!
