Just caught up with this thread. Chip butty is a favourite thing in jenny's household.

The joy of a chip butty is the contrast of textures; crispy fat chips (with a fluffy interior) sandwiched in soft white bread. In my case, I like brown sauce added. But tomato ketchup is permissible.

I can see what you mean about textures, but I guess I'll have to watch out for the butty bobbies since I like it on just slightly toasted, thickly sliced bread.

This was my sandwich today: Virginia ham, green oak lettuce and tomatoes on sourdough (with English mustard of course).
