The CookingBites recipe challenge: strawberries

19 recipes by my count and two days to go!

A wonderful poem by Edwin Morgan:

Strawberries
There were never strawberries
like the ones we had
that sultry afternoon
sitting on the step
of the open french window
facing each other
your knees held in mine
the blue plates in our laps
the strawberries glistening
in the hot sunlight
we dipped them in sugar
looking at each other
not hurrying the feast
for one to come
the empty plates
laid on the stone together
with the two forks crossed
and I bent towards you
sweet in that air
in my arms
abandoned like a child
from your eager mouth
the taste of strawberries
in my memory
lean back again
let me love you

let the sun beat
on our forgetfulness
one hour of all
the heat intense
and summer lightning
on the Kilpatrick hills

let the storm wash the plates

Mere hours remain until the deadline - post ‘em if you got ‘em!

... that's me done with 6 entries I think. I had one sort of failed recipe for steak with a strawberry and soy sauce. The sauce was good but the photos not.

I've got ingredients gathered for an entry. Hopefully I can squeak it in before the deadline. The countdown clock on the home page says about nine hours, but I don't think that is correct. It is never correct.

The time to enter the challenge has passed, and we’ve had wonderful recipes submitted - msmofet, time for you to carefully consider the entries and name a winner.

Thanks to everyone who participated - excellent challenge!

I still feel kind of lousy. But I didn't want to make you all wait. ALL the entries are wonderful. Thank you for participating. I will be trying several of them soon as I can. I love strawberries!
But I fell in love with this recipe:
