What did you cook/eat today (October 2017)?

Errands all day yesterday. Did not want to cook. George called to tell me he was bringing something home for dinner.

SURPRIZE!!!

A dozen boiled crabs!

This is what we had left from the dozen - 2 crabs a few claws and a piece of corn and potato. The corn and potato are boiled in the seasoned water.

My tummy was so . I love boiled crabs. These were medium. Full of meat, very heavy for their size and very fat. I am not much of a beer drinker but I like a cold one with boiled seafood.

What a sweet heart. that man.

I love crab too! :D

Sweet hubby ElizabethB
I've never eaten a crab! And I'm so curious to try one!

Wow! You have never eaten crab? Is it not on the menu in Italy? Crab linguine. As I am in Saffron Walden and its market day, I will try and pick up crab from the fish stall.

Oh yes there is this menu especially in the Southern Italy, but I do not know why, I never took it into consideration. I preferred lobster or other crustaceans, and I always snobbed crab. I have to repair !

A friend of ours in Kuala Lumpur used to take us to a restaurant that specialised in "black chili crab". First time I wore a white tee shirt. Every other time we went I wore the same tee shirt. It was impossible to get the stains out.

[Malaysians eat with their hands and black chili crab is extremely messy,]

It's like when you eat spaghetti with sauce and you're wearing a stylish dress .. (I did forbid during my wedding meal to prepare the spaghetti just for this reason. Only short, less risky pasta)

I have to try the crabs. I must. Maybe Kuala Lumpur is a bit distant, I start with southern Italy and then who knows ...

@morning glory what type of crab are you able to get? How do you prepare it?

@Yorky area restaurants that serve boiled seafood (crab, crawfish and shrimp) usually provide their patrons with a plastic bib. We don't use utensils with boiled seafood - except for a small wooden mallet or "crackers" to break the crab claws.

@MypinchofItaly yes, at least give it a try.

I have had Dungeness Crab, King Crab, Stone Crab, Snow Crab and of course our Louisiana Blue Point Crab. The Blue Points are by far my favorite, very sweet, delicate meat. Dungeness Crabs are my second favorite.

I can not even begin to count the different methods of preparing Blue Point Crabs. My absolute favorite is lump white meat (from the body, not the claws) gently cooked in butter. Lumps of meat the size of your thumb served swimming in drawn butter with hot French bread for dipping.

Happiness in a bowl.

The best are Cromer crabs (crabs from Cromer) which I can get where I am staying now:

The fish that we purchased at Vieux Port - Marseille that was going into an ice chest for the trip to Cadaques ..
On our family boat, heading back from Southern France to Spain .. Assorted shellfish and seafood ..
I see a little brownish guy at the bottom that has me a little concern. Who might he/she be? He/she looks like something that would scare me if he/she came close to me.
