Has anyone made apple butter?

I'm trying to think up ideas to preserve apples from my tree. We have a bumper crop this year so I've given away a few bagfulls and have made various pickles, mustards and chutneys. Mum and I chopped a huge load last night for the freezer to keep us in pies and crumble this winter. Mum also made a yummy cinnamon and apple cake.

I never made it, but I've always bought it. it's a childhood favorite of min school, that I took to school in peanut butter sammies.

We always have a big jar of (store-bought) apple butter in the house here. 😋

New one on me.

I think you would like it. It is a spread that you put on some kind of bread. It is sweet, but not too sweet. I think you would like a morning cuppa and a piece of toast with a spread of apple butter.

Here is an explanation and a recipe all in one video from Chef John. Always a link to a written recipe below the video.

I'll follow this, if it's easy I will try it, you have convinced me. :)

Did you see the video I added? Very easy, but it takes all day. But, most of the time, you don't have to actually do anything. You just let it cook.
