I drink vodka, whiskey, or bourbon neat but rum is a mixed thing. When it's hot, July and August, I'll drink cactus juice with ice. Tequila and Triple Sec.
similar to uk, but here the spirits are in the isles same as the wine / beer, and I've not seen a major supermarket give fridge / chiller space to packs of beer in uk

I'd take a sip of any alcohol, soon as it hit my stomach I'd have raging hiccups. Only happened if the drink contained alcohol.
Of course I'm trying so look after liver/kidneys so I rarely drink now.
EDIT: the hiccup effect eventually wore off, but lasted 2-3 years
