Breakfast around the world

But you learned that here in the forum, right?

Well yes n no. I knew what biscuits and gravy was I just found the idea quite repellent. It was hard to shake the thought of some digestives covered in meat gravy and even when I knew it was a scone because our scones are sweet it was still a no.

But it’s a yes from the point of view that being here changed my mind. I learned I could trust the palates of certain people here and if they said it was good then I’d give it a go.
My sons however thanks to the internet were already more than familiar and willing to try it.

Still on that first run I did rename it upside down sausage cobbler because I knew their first thoughts would have also been “Yuck biscuits (cookies) with meat gravy, no thanks!”

I think smoked salmon will go quite well with eggs, esp scrambled or omelette.
I don't think I've had it though

It really does and it’s something we have for breakfast on most special occasions because Mr SSOAP makes excellent smoked salmon scrambled eggs.

I've also made this dish but didn't like it as much as you. I think that is more down to my particular taste. I found it a bit bland. Might be how I cooked it though.
Thank you. Does that recipe look right though?

Looks about right. I don't think there is a definitive recipe really.

No. Personally I wouldn't mix cheese with smoked salmon. Mainly because the smoked salmon has such a strong distinctive taste of its own,
I guess I'm thinking an omelet has to have cheese and I'm still not getting around to the idea of scrambled with salmon. Maybe on the same plate but not mixed together.

Occasionally I put cheese in an omelette (in which case its usually simply a cheese omelette) with cheese folded into the centre to ooze out. But mainly I cook omelettes 'au naturel' so to speak. Or with a simple filling such as spinach.

It does need the right seasonings and plenty of pepper. In the US our breakfast sausage is probably much different than what you have there. If I'm making biscuits and gravy from just ground pork, I add lots of garlic, sage, thyme, etc. And even if I am just using country sausage I still add a liberal dose of black pepper.
