Breakfast around the world

I've also made this dish but didn't like it as much as you. I think that is more down to my particular taste. I found it a bit bland. Might be how I cooked it though.

Looks about right. I don't think there is a definitive recipe really.

A pie filling made with sausages can taste as strong or as bland as you like. I do use an awful lot of herbs in mine that I don’t see in any prescribed recipe though.

True. Has to be a mild cheese though.

Talking of breakfast, there is another UK classic breakfast which has rather fallen out of fashion; kippers! I absolutely adore them.

I LOVE kippers.
I don’t think it’s fallen out of favour though.
I believe sales are strong and increasing ❤️

I customize lots of recipes. Adding herbs to suit your tastes is smart. I added tarragon once and it was nice (I did kind of a spin on eggs in purgatory thing). I think I have a recipe on here somewhere.

Oh, I just meant that they aren't on the average breakfast menu nor do people eat them much at home any more. Unless you have a nearby fishmonger stocking them, the real deal needs to be ordered on-line. Most supermarkets only stock the frozen, version which bares little resemblance to the one I pictured above. I'm sure there is still a market for them, like lots of artisan produce these days.

Kippers - every single UK B&B we’ve ever stayed at served kippers as a breakfast option.

I remember in 1993, going to Scotland for the first time, staying in a small B&B there, just four rooms, and when it came time for breakfast, the man came round to take our orders, which went like this (we were the only Americans, everyone else was British):

“We’d both like the kippers, please.”
“Oh, well, the kippers sound good, yes dear? Two for kippers.”
“We’ll have the kippers, thank you.”
“Uhhhhhhhh…scrambled eggs and bacon for us, please.”

Gosh! In Scotland I can believe it but I'm pretty sure most places in the England don't serve them. Maybe it depends where. I've stayed in a lot of of hotels... I've also watched numerous episodes of Four in a bed (its a TV show where 4 B&Bs compete) and rarely noticed kippers on the breakfast menu.
