Only my wife and myself dining today so I have tried something radical with the sprouts for this Christmas dinner.
Instead of boiling them I have microwaved them in some olive oil.
Four minutes at maximum heat in a dish of oil and they take on a sweet nutty flavour.
I got the full approval of my wife, who commented on the texture, which can be varied based on timing from two minutes to six minutes.

Thanks! They're made with half plain flour and half white whole wheat flour (which really is a very light brown), and I think it's why they have that somewhat spotty look to them.
Agreed! Anyone would think they were cooked by a Brit.
