I'm a little late but yes, just a splash or two in the dish.

Taste it straight up before you add it so you'll see why. It's like liquid anchovies.
 
It should be fine to freeze.

This turned out delicious. Colleen and I both loved it. It went great with the black eyed peas. I probably doubled/tripled the red pepper flakes. I also added a few dashes of hot sauce. I used a touch of liquid smoke and a little more vinegar than what it called for.
