I have to confess that I cheat. My first coffee (and only coffee on weekdays) is served in a preheated thermal mug. I received this mug when they were just starting to exist as a concept before they became a thing. It was bought in December 1992 as a Christmas present to me by my late grandmother. Everyone thought I was mad asking for just that mug, but it wasn't cheap 33 years ago at £29.95 for a camping mug. But it has been everywhere with me and being made in Japan is pretty indestructible and by heck does it keep drinks hot! Usually too hot to drink until at least half an hour had passed, about the time it takes to get the tent up, inflate (by hand) the sleeping mats and get the sleeping bags out and airing...

I now use it in the house, as well as when camping. It's only downside is that back then they didn't come with a lid. But given my drink is typically still hot after an hour, I suspect it doesn't need one. I often have to add cold water to be able to drink the contents or forget about it for an hour.... :D

Cold tea is akin to flat Coke.

'Bout every southern fridge has a pitcher of cold sweet tea. 😋 (Usually with mint but mines not planted yet...)

I don't drink hot beverages in the morning unless it's really cold here, which is very rare. I keep a pitcher of sweet tea with a big dollop of white grape juice, a good squeeze or 2 of lemon, and sometimes muddled mint in the refrigerator. It's a mixture I got from Chef Curtis Grace, pretty well known in the western Kentucky, Tennessee, northern parts of Alabama and Mississippi area. Sometimes, I'll make cold brew coffee as well, mixed with simple syrup, which I keep in the refrigerator, and add cream when ready to drink.

ETA: Chef Grace was around long before the Food Network came along.

I use white rum, tequila, gin, vodka, and triple sec. One part of all those to 2 parts liquid sweet and sour mix. They go in a pitcher, then I add to ice and coke in a ratio determined on how bad a day I've had.

I can imagine. First time I had it, I had 2 tall glasses when out for lunch with office mates, we all had a couple of drinks, including the boss. My thought was how bad could it be with iced tea in the name. I wanted to slide off my chair under my desk and nap for rest of day!

Good to know with the gin. I've a bottle and I don't drink it so I'll add that in the next batch. Thank you!
