Does anyone know what this is?

I thought shuttle sticks had a 'cut-out' to catch the thread/yarn... just going by memory of doing weaving at Art College.
I just looked on Amazon, all had cut-outs. Nothing looked remotely close to epi's "spurtle".

I have a spurtle - I thought they had the curved blade, but apparently the 'definition' is variable.
great tool for folding / mixing loose stuff in a large bowl - like salads, pastas....

Someone who knows such thinks said yesterday that the wood is sycamore, and that is typical for kitchen tools. Should narrow it down a bit!

have a gander at the measuring tape in the OP pix.
#1 - pie servers have an offset handle
#2 - if so, this one is designed to deal with a 20" diameter cake....
