It's funny, actually. Cinco de Mayo never registers with me as...anything, really. Like, I'll forget it's St. Patty's Day, but then I'll remember at some point, but it's not even in my brain that 5 May is anything other than the fifth day of the fifth month.I don't know about that. They do it in Kentucky too, and that's not exactly Mexican central. I think it has spread over nearly all the US in an effort to get people in to spend lots of money on booze.
We're actually going for...Chinese! Most Chinese places around here are the usual "buffet-or-takeaway" places, but a few years ago, we found one that's a proper sit down/a la carte/table service restaurant. No buffet, no to-go, full bar, nice dining room, etc. Thats where we're going.
As to the Oktoberfest comment, I'm tickled to point out we're going out to a Maifest dinner next week! -
