How is the corona virus affecting you?

colleen is on daily meds. Doctor is the one that told us she is higher risk. Were only 51, that helps somewhat.
That how it is with my wife (56). She takes meds to control (read suppress) her immune system. Two of her doctors (one, the specialist for her condition, the other her heart doctor) called to tell her, "Just a reminder...you're high-risk, stay home!"

I went to Kroger around 10:30 PM last night. I am still being careful, my flu has run it's course, but the pneumonia still has a week or two of fifht left in it. I don't want to spread that around.

Anyway, the place looked as if it had been looted in a riot. I've never seen anything like it. I lived in Hurricane country for years, and theree would be rushes to stock up when a storm was coming, but people didn't trash the store. I said hello to on employee, and he just looked at me like a zombie. He has to clean all that mess up.

Onions, gone. Potatoes, gone. Bread, pffft, forget about it.

We nipped into Sainsburys last night, I have never known the shelves to be empty

We were all told to work from home until further notice. Here’s my setup. It wouldn’t be that bad except everyone else is home, too. The dogs are honestly less of a distraction than the other people in the house.

By the way, I did find eggs at a Rite Aid...the last 2 dozen were pushed back, and I think no one knew they were there. I will certainly find things to do with those eggs before they go bad.

The restrictions are starting to take effect

One of my hobbies is making model planes -the plastic kits
Already a couple of shows have been cancelled
And my hiking club has cancelled its AGM, due in April

English Heritage is an organisation that looks after (logically enough) historically important buildings, castles, stately homes, and so on
They have just announced that their enclosed & staffed properties will be closed for at least the next month
Though open air properties like monuments and castles that are unstaffed will continue to be accessible

I expect there will be more of this sort of thing

Today was a long day at work. Feet and back hurt. Getting old sucks lol.

I've already been told that I'll be mandatoried on THUR. I'm working 6-6. Maybe on Friday as well. They asked if I wanted to volunteer for SAT. I politely told them to F off lol.

I can't wait for bed tonight lol.

Well, a bourbon with the wife, then bed.

Well done for working the shifts. You have an important job. Its tough at the moment. Put your feet up when you can and enjoy that bourbon.

Had an interesting conversation with my doctor today. I had to go in because I am nearly totally out of my meds. For once, he wasn't in a hurry because over half of the scheduled appointments cancelled. He just got back from a medical conference in Grenada, one of the countries that has no cases yet. I knew he had been away, so i asked where before he got near me. They had a lecture from a WHO epidemiologist on COVID-19. They expect at minimum 50% of US will have had or have COVID-19 by the end of summer. By September or October, they believe antibodies will have started to develop. A vaccine is not expected to be available until early 2021. And, yes, even though you have had it, you can get it again.

I cannot vouch for the correctness but I actually believe this:

I reckon that I have a 24,000,000 to 1 chance of catching and dying from this virus. I have a 1 in 500,000 chance of dying from starvation as a result of not being able to buy food!

And a 1 in 50 chance of suffering a fatal fall in my bathroom.

Some of those big killers are found mostly in poor/third world nations. You don't see them in Western countries. Malaria, Typhoid,Cholera, Dengue...wait a minute, Pneumonia? 2,216 per year? Nobody told me this!
