Plans for today (2019-2022)

We had a lot of lightning and thunder last night but no power loss thankfully. Hope yours comes back on soon. That always worries me.
I can’t remember where, but I recently read what the average power outage frequency and length are, either for the US as a whole or for Ohio only, and we beat that by a lot, as in what they reported for a yearly average…we see that every couple of months.

A whole lotta nuthin’ because the power’s out again! 😡
…and it’s back on, took about three hours.

Unexpected plans - firming up our vacation itinerary, something I hate doing, because MrsT and I, our thought processes are entirely different when it comes to planning, so it’s torture for both of us.

When I met my husband his approach to holiday planning went as far as booking time off work.

I was the opposite. I'd know roughly what I'd be doing each day and have everything ready for it, so if a certain mountain was getting climbed, I'd have the route planned, the emergency escape routes mapped out, an envelope in the car with detailed route, escape route, eta and so on all there...

Nowadays, I'll settle for actually having a holiday...

My family in Houston has always had a lot of outages for reasons unknown. They are on "free market, unregulated electricity. I am part of an Electric Coop (socialist electricity according to the right wingers), and ours rarely goes off, and usually not for more than a few minutes. Plus, being a member (comrade/fellow traveller) of the Coop, I get a piece of the profits check every so often.

My plans involve sleep, sleep and more sleep, today. After that, eat lunch, shower, housework, eat evening meal, nebulise, veg in front of TV aka knitting and then sleep. Hubby is at work in the city today and can finally drive so I am having my first day off since May that hasn't been necessitated by my health but by choice!

We’re both that way as far as the desired end result (we both want a day planned out), but here’s an example:

The first issue we always tackle is breakfast; what are we doing for breakfast/where are we eating breakfast.

Ask me that, and I’ll ask these questions:

“Is breakfast at the hotel included? If not, do they serve breakfast? If not, what’s nearby?”

Ask MrsT that question, and you’ll get back:

“Well, let’s see…I was planning on wearing my grey sneakers that day, not my brown ankle boots…”

🫤

Don’t get me wrong, she’ll get there in the end, but it’ll be this twisted mental journey from her shoes for that day to how that ties into breakfast that morning, and that kind of roundabout thinking drives me crazy.

I remember power cuts as a kid but not since then. Son lost power and water during the quakes and stayed here for a week. We have torches around the place just in case!!!

Today's plans are simple, try to get home.

The drought in North Texas ended last night with a 50-year rain, and flash flooding. There is more coming today.

If I can just get to DFW airport, I have my AWD SUV there, and the roads between that airport and my house don't flood.

Good luck, and be safe!
