Plans for today (2019-2022)

Today's plans are simple, try to get home.

The drought in North Texas ended last night with a 50-year rain, and flash flooding. There is more coming today.

If I can just get to DFW airport, I have my AWD SUV there, and the roads between that airport and my house don't flood.

CD
Take care & stay safe.

The drought breaking here 2½ years ago caused major flooding even at the top of the mountain we live on. Our AWD SUV was of little use then. Only the full 4x4 with off-road tyres was of any use then (and only with the chainsaw in the back! )

American Airlines cancelled me again. I gave up on them, and bought a ticket on another airline. I'll get my money back for my flight on American (or someone will die).

With any hope, I'll be in Dallas at 10PM. Wrong airport, but at least in Dallas. My neighbor is a night owl, so he is going to pick me up and take me to DFW airport to pick up my car.

Good luck.

My problem was almost the exact opposite. Hubby was being discharged from hospital and I needed to get to the airport and another 30 mins the other side, and back again with someone whose ankle had been broken personally and reset to remove the ankle joint.
Let's just say the journey was long and painful for both of us. My only route after 'negotiating' with police about me supposedly driving through road closed signs (I hadn't, I was inside the closed road area and didn't know it was closed until after I'd driven through the washed away roads and extensive deep flooding) was to use the tiny single track back road considered too small and too minor to bother closing. The chainsaw was needed more than once along with trees tied to the Landcruiser and dragged out of the way. Hubby couldn't do anything to help expect stay put. And because the vehicle was a manual he couldn't even drive (ignoring the legal aspect of him driving 1 week after surgery...)
It was a very long journey home.

Grandson eli here for the day. Sick day but looks ok to me. Just trying it on.i need to go out but will wait until daughter picks him up at 3.15.
Lazy day today

So my plans for a day that included going to knitting have changed

Just before close of play yesterday, a referral I had to see an asthma specialist rang to give me an appointment some time in November. That's too late and I explained that. I could see someone else at the same center, so I explained exactly what the issue was... it has to do with this darn allergy to milk protein and how a lot of asthma medication or respiratory meds have lactose monohydrate in them. Sometimes I react, sometimes I don't. No-one knows why sometimes I don't, we all know why sometimes I do... and it isn't always to do with generic verses branded medication quality... The annoying thing is, my asthma is stable and my meds don't need to be changed it tampered with. We know that the 6-8 meds I'm on for my asthma work.

There was a pause from the receptionist before an whenever that I needed to see the person I was referred to. All of this issue is simply because one of my inhalers (the main preventative one) is not available in Australia (and quite a few other countries) in the dose I was prescribed in the UK. I take 2 doses 4 times a day of the 250mcg inhaler. I'm Australia it is only available in the 50mcg & 100mcg versions. Some countries like Finland actually have it in a 400mcg version, so it is really hit and miss... Until now, my parents had been purchasing it over the counter in Spain and posting it to me legally. But brexit and covid have meant that they have had to sell their apartment in Tenerife and I'm now down to 4 months supply of that inhaler. So I need to see a specialist... explaining all of this, the lady came back with a 9am appointment for the specialist my doctor had chosen, realised I didn't live in Canberra and changed it to a 12pm appointment today.

So, no knitting club but a medical appointment at lunchtime in the city. So lunch will be late and taken out. Now off to find the print out of my last lung function tests...

I recently had a lung infection and prescribed this. Seems to work.

Sooner is sure better than later, knitting or not. I hope they get that straightened out.

Well, once again, my trials pale in comparisons to yours. Worst part of this for me is having to spend a day at an airport -- eating airport priced food. It has been good food, but expensive.

I can't have any stick inhaler like that...

Let's just say that spraying something I'm allergic to directly into my airway is about the worst thing I can do sadly. It's the milk protein residue that's the issue.

Trust me, being stranded at an airport relying on their food would also be a bad day for me as well... best wishes.
It's why I try to avoid flying. But next year I'll have to... we're due did return to the UK for a visit.

I think you may have taken my comments the wrong way. I'm sorry if that was the case. I hadn't meant to belittle the issues you are facing getting home. You just reminded me of when the drought broke here. That's all.

Hope you find yourself a decent, if expensive meal to enjoy.

Our plans almost came unstuck... about 20 minutes before we were due to leave I noticed that my clock was running slow. So I climbed over the chairs to adjust it and noticed that the car door was open. Hubby took himself to work yesterday for the first time since his operation at the start of May.
He didn't close the car door when he got home last night. It rained a little overnight and had just started to rain heavily. I ran outside in my slippers to close the door and assess, pinky to find that something had also been into the car repeatedly. Muddy footprints everywhere and I mean everywhere... The other vehicle didn't have enough fuel to go anywhere except the closest petrol station, so an emergency clean of the car was needed... It will have to have a proper clean later.

Needless to say hubby is driving. Having left the driver's door open, it was the worst. He's on a towel. The only saving grace is that they are leather seats, but I've had to temporarily issue a heated seat ban until the vehicle is a touch drier inside! Zap szzzzzzzt, zap.
