Most peeps 'sort of' heave when you say anything about pickled meat... Me, can't live w/out it.

Mmmmmmm… 🤤

Mom would buy pickled pigs feet occasionally. And Limburger cheese (warm and runny, spread on thin, dark brown multigrain bread, sometimes with a thin slice of raw onion).

It was this brand bread only the dark brown/black bread. That bread was so good. I haven’t been able to find it in a very long time.

It was a cheap meat we had growing up. Comfortable food for me and my family.
It's quite expensive now that 3.3 kg piece cost me $75. We have it as a trest xmas day. Served with lashings of apple sauce.

I'm not fond of pickled anything much. I do like a few pickles on a burger sometimes, and pickle relish in tartar sauce, potato salad, that kind of thing. Pickled meat is a no for me.

This pork melts in your mouth and with apple sauce. Xmas day I have to make our son lee and his 2 eldest pickled red and apple sauce Sammy's to take home for their supper.

Planning to stop in a lovely little village and try to find some lunch today, then carry on towards Andalucia.
Rented a house for a couple of days so we can have a break and wash our clothes. I was just checking the nearest supermarket for supplies and noticed the Saturday opening hours are cut short. It's another blinkin holiday so everything shuts at 2pm and won't reopen til Monday at 10am!

Got to get a wiggle on or we're going to have a very hungry couple of days

Edit: Also thank goodness for googles detailed mapping showing extra info like up to date opening times. We would have turned up and discovered everything was shut and the one restaurant there was fully booked!

It's the one thing I'm scared of driving a landcruiser prado...
The bill when I need to change my tyres
Ditto. I've had mine 7 years now. I reckon another 3 years and I'll have to put new tyres on her. Problem is that I want to take them from fully off road tyres, to a less ready for the field tyre, more ready for a gravel road... which means all 5 will have to be done... but at least I have 6 wheels to choose from. Mine came with 2 spares and the 6th tyre is still on the (fully tarmac) road tyres that she had on before the fully off road tyres she's got on now. Either way, in looking at $1,500 or so.
