• I’ve added a casual chat room to CookingBites as a place for off-topic banter, light conversation, and short-lived chit-chat that doesn’t belong in forum threads. The chat room is informal and lightly-to-not moderated, with messages being temporary, so it’s ideal for friendly back-and-forth that would otherwise derail discussions. Site rules still apply, but there’s no reporting system or expectation of post-by-post moderation - if something becomes uncomfortable, the right response is to step away. If a topic has substance or lasting value, it still belongs in the forums; everything else can head to chat.

Plans for today (2026)

Plans for today did not include getting covered head to toe changing a wheel.

The spare is kept on the outside of my oh's vehicle, underneath. Living in a dirt road means it is caked in fine dirt. The light brown stuff, cm thick of it. We have to keep a scrubber in the change wheel kit to remove about 1cm of dirt from the inside of the spare wheel because it imbalances the wheel otherwise. It's been a significant problem over the years if the vehicle is washed and then allowed to stand before being driven (service centres usually wash vehicles here for people living or driving on dirt roads frequently). Washing the vehicle then not driving it immediately allows dirt to dry at the bottom of the wheel where there is a indentation. Dirt builds up and sticks there acting to unbalance the wheels causing significant wheel wobble.

So I'm now caked head to toe in fine dirt with a flat tyre in the boot. Luckily it went flat very quickly. From parking up and spotting that it needed air, just looked slightly flat, to coming out of the shop 15-20 mins later and it was beyond being driven on, but not quite where the wheel rim was resting on rubber.

I finally moved to a higher level, the room is much bigger, we lost our beach view but we gained a diamond head view. We get very firm pillows, now that’s the respect we want, haha.
My husband is pleased.
But our planned swimming is not there, but I’ll go for a walk at the beach, dip my toes in the ocean.
And after that we now can load our fridge up with fruit and guava juice. Yay!

Careful with all the fruits!

So, now that we're home, and I've bought some new indoor plant supports, I can dismantle my 2 vanilla orchids without repotting them, and give them a bigger support.

After that, well it's one of those days, either curl up in bed and sleep, or sit in front of the TV and veg out. It's raining outside, fine drizzle, inside of a cloud job, and blowing a gale, top that off with 12°C and, well, I'm not silly enough to be outside when I don't need to be!

Been a week since freezer ice maker stopped. Fridge was ok but I need ice.0

Nothing planned. My husband is finally catching up to his baseball games on his cellphone, last night he fell asleep while watching it.
Nothing planned for food either. We just go to the local place near us when we’re hungry.
