• I’ve added a casual chat room to CookingBites as a place for off-topic banter, light conversation, and short-lived chit-chat that doesn’t belong in forum threads. The chat room is informal and lightly-to-not moderated, with messages being temporary, so it’s ideal for friendly back-and-forth that would otherwise derail discussions. Site rules still apply, but there’s no reporting system or expectation of post-by-post moderation - if something becomes uncomfortable, the right response is to step away. If a topic has substance or lasting value, it still belongs in the forums; everything else can head to chat.

Plans for today (2026)

It's back to the grind this week. I plan to go into the office each day through Wednesday, at least, and then work from home Thursday and Friday. I have a meeting tomorrow night, and might get home by 9. This is now the long stretch of the year where I typically don't take any vacation time until late May, when I begin bagging Fridays to do fun things outdoors; hiking, fishing, paddling, shooting, etc, as that's my favorite time of year.

Well, I made all of this... 😁

you are missing the glass coffee jug that my OH always, without fail, balances on the very top somewhere between the food processor bowl, the plastic container and its blue lid. And you have not stacked the cup measures to hang off the handle of the food processor bowl. You are not trying hard enough!

Back at home and my plan today is going shopping.
In the afternoon, I like to cut my fig trees and save some cuttings for grafting. Some I will give away.

Plan for today is to write up and identlfy recipes for the Indian Embassy.
Some while back, I mentioned the Embassy had asked us to help them with a cookbook, but they've changed tack completely. We submitted about 30-40 recipes, but they came back with 55 or so completely different ones. Well, since they're paying, we're quite happy to go along with their items.
First thing is to classify (starters, rice dishes, lentil dishes, etc.) and then try to figure out how to make some of them, which I've never seen or eaten!
Fun project.
Second part of today's plan was hand over some chutneys/sauces I'd made to my new partners, who are relaunching MASALA - the conserves company I had 10 years ago. We've got our first order, and that'll be delivered tomorrow. I'm thrilled!
Third part today is to work out a menu for the Tea Shop I visited yesterday. They want to do an event with Indian food and their teas (they've got over 50 varieties). That should be fun event, in about 3 weeks' time.

Please post the recipes here or maybe a thread about it.

I should add that I'm delighted to hear you gave so many serious food projects in train. Obviously retirement us not part of your plan!

Delighted, but got to work out what some of them are first:D
Chicken 65? Afghani chicken? Tandoori chicken doughnuts?:hyper:
Looks like I've got my work cut out.

Chicken 65 is a South Indian restaurant style dish, deep fried small pieces of chicken in spiced batter.

Afghani chicken is a mild creamy chicken dish with cashews in the sauce.

Tandoori Chicken doughnuts are a fusion recipe which sound really quite horrible to me!

Chicken doughnuts... I'll pass!
