Salsa: its meaning and pronunciation

Mexican salsa to me is Xni Pec, from the original Nahuatl (Aztec). Means "dog's Nose".

It could also be "chilmoli" or "chichilmoli" or "xoxoxmoli". Moli in nahuatl means "ground" - as in "ground cumin" - smashed up in a molcajete. Chichi is red salsa, xoxox is green salsa.
It wasn´t just the Aztecs in Mexico; the Mayans also dominated in the south. There, salsa was (or perhaps still is) "k'utbil p'aak"
I´ll just stick to salsa, because I can´t pronounce the others.
