Sandwiches

An example of effort and ease.

Cooked some sausages for lunch yesterday because I was too busy cooking other things to bother with lunch.

Mine for ease - ‘I’m too busy to stop or even brown the sausages properly’ rendition of bread sausages and a slug of Pommery mustard.

Which I was more than happy to scoff down until I looked up to see the effort sandwich my son had built -

English Mustard, crispy shallots, sausages, Pommery mustard, American cheese, tomato ketchup, more crispy shallots, and gherkins relish in on the lid. Suddenly my sandwich wan’t as satisfying 😂

I had a craving for an egg salad sandwich.
Hard boiled eggs, parsley, English mustard, horseradish, dill, a tbsp of chopped onion, a touch of mayonnaise.
Two sandwiches have just gone down the hatch, with Mr Porky sitting next to me making a noise like the Orient Express leaving the station.
He's out of luck.

Not even a crust? I thought your sous chef deserved at least a crumb...

I would have preferred yours ;)

There's probably another way to achieve that without pickles and ketchup.
Maybe, but if there's one thing I've learnt from american cuisine it's put aside your notions and don't knock it till you've tried it!
Unlike a Brit who'll knock it before it's made it off the drawing board 😆

I hear ya and I would agree to try it, but I don't even really love ketchup on my hamburgers, and definitely not pickle relish. I will do 1 dill slice on my burgers occasionally. I do like fresh tomatoes, though, and a lemon and garlic aioli might be nice. The only things I put pickle relish in (and only dill relish, I hate sweet pickles) is tuna salad, potato salad, or tartar sauce. That's it. So I would let you cut off a tiny piece for me to try and I would attempt to choke it down, LOL!!!!

Yer I don't like tomato ketchup either!

I will do a dab of ketchup with a lot of mustard on a burger from time to time, but if I have fresh tomatoes, no. The two cannot be on the burger together.

We have these oddities here called corn dogs, have you ever heard of them? They are hot dogs on a stick (I don't like hot dogs, LOL) and then they are dipped in a cornmeal batter and deep fried. For some reason I will eat those, though I haven't had one in probably 20 years, and I like a mixture of ketchup and yellow mustard to dip them. Totally weird.

I think if dill pickle relish were whirred in a food processor with mayonnaise it would make a nice spread for a burger or sandwich.

Not a fan of tomato ketchup and definitely not of mayo either.
I do like pickles though. The ones we can get here are normally sweet & sour, so I pour of some liquid and replace with vinegar to make them edible

(Side story: my jar of cucumber pickles (glass jar of about 1.5 ltr) was stolen by baboons while on safari. We got it back the next day. Apparently the baboons didn't know how to open it and didn't smash it)

Yes corn dogs get a place in a lot of american tv.
As a kid I always thought corn dogs were some mystical food, then when I knew what they were I thought they were simply odd, then I realised they're not far off the battered sausage our fish n chip shops sell 🤣
