Reading the article it seems that the 'bread' is very sweet so the whole thing is more like a cake really. Not sure how to go about eating it...

Yeah, something like this deservs a sweet wrap. Perhaps roll it up and lightly pan fry it ? Lightly, meaning not to cook the fruit inside.
