• I’ve added a casual chat room to CookingBites as a place for off-topic banter, light conversation, and short-lived chit-chat that doesn’t belong in forum threads. The chat room is informal and lightly-to-not moderated, with messages being temporary, so it’s ideal for friendly back-and-forth that would otherwise derail discussions. Site rules still apply, but there’s no reporting system or expectation of post-by-post moderation - if something becomes uncomfortable, the right response is to step away. If a topic has substance or lasting value, it still belongs in the forums; everything else can head to chat.

The CookingBites recipe challenge: chickpeas (garbanzo beans)

This challenge finishes on 14th January and, unfortunately, there are no extensions, so let's get moving with the final offerings, folks!
Hopefully when I get home from the service centre (aka garage/mechanics) I'll have the ingredients to hand to write up the others.

Finally wrote up the epic Vegetable Biryani recipe
Recipe - Saffron Vegetable Biryani with Raisins, Apricots and Pistachios, Cauliflower, Sweet Potato, Beetroot, Peas and Chickpeas Twice

Writing it up coherently was a job

Its about an hour and twenty minutes until the deadline as I write. I am sorry I didn't enter more recipes as I had several more (5) ideas. I've not been 100% due to teeth issues.

But we have 16 recipes from 6 members. Excellent work folks!

A reminder that to easily see all the entries on one page (with links) you can click on the cookingbites recipe challenge tag.

Just to note: Its fine to add the image after the deadline.
Thank you all for participating! Chickpeas definitely caught on over the New Year.
I'm going to take a long hard look at all the entries (which were highly creative) and I'll decide on a winner tomorrow.
Don't forget you can click on the tag cookingbites recipe challenge to see all the 17 entries on one page.

17 entries in all - an excellent challenge. It started really slowly (Xmas and New year in the way) but then gathered speed.
Some absolutely amazing recipes, from the simplest to the most complex. Despite several internet interruptions here during the morning, I narrowed it down to 4 dishes:
Z-Cook with Besan gelato and aquafaba meringues;
SatNavSaysStraightOn with Coconut gram dal;
Barriehie with Chickpea patties and
Gone Hiking with Marry me chicken .
I'd quite happily have called it a tie, but there can only be one winner , so my vote goes to
SatNavSaysStraightOn with her Coconut gram dal! That recipe enshrines everything I love about Indian food.
Up to you , SNSSO, to choose the next challenge ingredient.
I'll be making all 4 of those dishes in the future. Well done everyone!
