The CookingBites recipe challenge: chocolate

Well…my last one, poached pear quarters in a chocolate sauce didn’t turn out very well at all, so now I’ll be cheering everyone else on going forward.
That's a coincidence. I have a recipe idea in development involving pears for the challenge. Not pears belle Helene.

My problem (which is usual lately) is too many ideas. I've got a second one cooked , photographed and waiting to be edited. Then there are the other 7 or 8 ideas in development which aside from pears, range from dishes with eggs, lamb and beef to salad dressings, prawns and a pilaf.

Bonkers. :hyper:

I’m wondering if this will be a problem as the amount of time I’ve been on the forum grows - I will have already submitted all my good recipes to the challenge and have to come up with new ones!
That's the whole point, in a sense. It challenges you to think of new recipes!

I’ll add a little humorous note to yesterday’s substandard pears:

When it was time to plate (late afternoon), MrsT was off doing something else, so I dished hers up, squishy pear quarters and watery sauce, and sat in next to her chair, then ate mine with little fanfare, standing in the kitchen.

After that, I went to the back office to check up on work. About 15 minutes later, I heard MrsT come thumping down the hallway - I can tell my the sound of her whether she’s coming to see me, or walking back to use the bathroom, and the deliberate sound of her footsteps said, “Get ready, I’m heading your way!”

Sure enough, she stuck in her head, fixed me with a stare, and said, “Whatever that was…that was freakin’ delicious! Delicious!” - then she turned on her heel and was gone as quickly as she’d arrived.

Funny thing is…the sauce was made with pear syrup, dark chocolate, and dark cocoa powder, some funky black stuff from the Dominican Republic, and she’s always quick to tell me how much she abhors anything using dark chocolate!

I think it depends what its combined with really. Maybe the pear syrup seduced her...

A little less that a week to go to enter your chocolates delights into the challenge. 8 entries so far from 5 members. There's plenty of scope for more creations, savoury or sweet!

I did buy chocolate ..
But no inspiration...

I know you prefer savoury dishes. Can I offer inpiration somehow?

The way I look at it is that cacao is in fact, a bean (and a spice in all but name). Dark chocolate adds a depth of flavour and slightly fruit like note to savoury dishes; vegetables, pulses and meat. It works supremely well with chilli (in sweet and savoury).
