The worst it has been over the past couple of days but supposed to stop soon. A very cold wind.

This is the fun of a topsy turvy start to an autumn..

Yet we were at freezing last night, go figure!
Yesterday's maximum was 19.9°C. Today 26.6°C...

(For those Fahrenheiters ... 31F last night. Yesterday's max 67F. Today's Max 80F. We're forecast 95F on Thursday...)

Not to mention innocent families who have no power, or have even lost their homes to bombing. Another reason for me to promote World Central Kitchen, who feed thousands of Ukrainian refugees every day, World Central Kitchen | Fearing for safety, thousands of families flee their homes in Ukraine

This is a food forum, so we know what a good meal means to people. Surely everyone here can afford a little something to put some good food in front of some people who need it.

I think these kids need to be in school, learning. But, according to half of the countries' voters, I am a "woke" socialist who hates America.

That is insane...and I'm imagining that like every other bad thing it will impact vulnerable populations mostly, I imagine children of low income homes being forced to work to help their families, when they should be focusing on school, which is what gives them the best shot at improving their lives.

In Portugal, only children over 16 can work, and only if they finished mandatory education. Younger children can work in the arts or sports (eg child actors or child athletes), but only with permission from the government body that oversees child safety and child abuse cases.

That happens in Portugal too, but it's not the foreign families that do this, Portuguese families do it too. We see it less and less but in my parent's generation it was common for children to help in their parents business or help them care for the land and animals. It is ilegal though.

The legal age for a job in most states is 16, although kids can work at their parent's places of business as long as the work does not interfere with the kids educations -- and the work is safe for a kid to do. Things like waiting tables on weekends at the family restaurant is okay.

You have to understand that Arkansas is a rather backwards state, and Governor Sanders was President Trump's press secretary, and is a well-connected rising MAGA star.

Also, a lot of these jobs are being done already, by children of undocumented immigrants. People love to hate these immigrants, but businesses LOVE them, because they will work cheap, and not report abuses to the government. At the same time these politicians want to build a wall between the US and Mexico (which won't work), they are making it easier for businesses to hire cheap immigrant labor, including children.

It got kinda' cold last night, for March. It's almost noon, and only 55F/13C now.
