The General Chat Thread (2025)

Going out to dinner on Halloween

Like most people with adult children, I haven’t had much interest in the holiday in a while. Every year, I would feel obligated to buy hundreds of dollars worth of candy to hand out to the children ringing my doorbell.

There was a friend that we hadn’t seen in a while, and we kept having to reschedule when we were hoping to meet. We all miraculously had time available Friday, so we figured this was as a good time as any. We normally go out to eat around 3 PM, because restaurants usually aren’t crowded then. It took longer than expected to get ready, and we ended up going out to eat about 5 PM. This is around the time when the doorbell would start ringing.

Our neighborhood is the kind that parents bring their kids to from other neighborhoods. If genuinely difficult to even drive your car through the neighborhood when the trick or treating is in full swing. But, by the time we got home, it was nice and calm.

I’m looking forward to a nice dinner next October 31.

You did. Your post is here. The whole post was also copied to 'What did you eat or cook today' because it was food and photos of the food. See here.

Definitely a wise move to go out on Halloween. Thankfully its not an issue here at all. A few kids passing by but no knocking on the door.
