The motorbike thread

Thanks and no, I did them all after I got the bike. The main differences that were obvious were the bike started much easily and quicker with less choke and it ran smoother with the new carb, airfilter system and true dual exxhaust. When I put the cam in it had more "mid range power and pick up" than with the stock cam. I was tossing up between the Andrews 13 and 27 and was told the 27 would be better for touring than the 13.

The only downside I have noticed is my fuel economy - that dropped a little from 50 - 55 MPG to 40 - 45 MPG :)
I'll take a drop in fuel economy for performance any day.

Ah yes being thirsty is a downside!
Mr SSOAP has a Harley, I call it Christine, the number of garage incidents that have happened with that bike I’d swear it’s trying to kill me 😂

It’s not my favourite just because it’s so heavy (over 300kg) and I don’t find it as well balanced as the Scout but it is a lovely bike.

Mine weighs in at around 800 lb but is well balanced. That being said, I have given thought to downsizing to a Sportster or a 750 Virago.

Til you’re touring and have to constantly check your fuel gauge and how it is far to the next petrol station while your partners far more efficient bike can swan on for miles without a care 😂

You have a fuel gauge??? Show off! :D

I have to keep track of the miledge but I refuel every 100 to 120 miles on average.

But I'll get there faster...

I'm a boring rider I geuss - 5 MPH over the limit is about as fast as I go now a days :)

A while ago I had plans of doing a Europe/Uk bike tour; unfortuanately it never came, nor will come, to pass.

I don’t like the “nor will it come to pass” part of that sentence, why’s it a no?
Well, my wife wouldn't like me disappearing for a month or so, especially on the bike - she panics everytime I go up town on it :)

It was an idea I had and thought (at the time) my wife would ride with me but found out she hated being on the back so it wouldn't have been any fun for either of us. As such, I canned the idea.

Fair enough marital harmony matters!
Although I think I’d unconsciously be working on it 😂

Just finished reading through this thread from woe to go and have come to the distinct decision that I need a riding buddy for next summer ..... :)

Yeah it would, and make it more fun as well. I've done a lot of long rides by myself and as much as I love riding, when I get to where I'm going that is it - would be nice to have someone to have beer with, talk about the ride etc for a change ....

I’m not a huge fan of riding with other people but I do like meeting at the destination.
I’ll often meet my other half there rather than us ride together.
That way we can both ride however we’re feeling speed wise and still have a nice cup of tea or bacon sarnie together when we arrive.
