When I was in Madeira I went to a lovely little cafe on the coast. On the menu was sardine sandwich. I imagined something fresh from the see and sofisticated so ordered it. Nope, the barman opened a tin of sardines in tomato sauce and slapped them between two slices of white processed bread.

My life what a tasty butty that was. By coincidence I was looking at an online Spanish food shop earlier today (sobrasada and blood sausage were my targets) and I came acrosss tinned sardines. I will be buying in the new year.
