Yep - that's it. Just 1 slice of bread 'dipped' in the pan then another slice on top. Sometimes if you were very lucky the pan had been used for frying bacon and you got a flavour of that too. They were just a very [very] cheap 'filler up' obtainable from [fairly basic] café’s way back in the 50s and 60s. Useful back then if your wage packet had run out [or even pocket money] and it was lunch time.
