• I’ve added a casual chat room to CookingBites as a place for off-topic banter, light conversation, and short-lived chit-chat that doesn’t belong in forum threads. The chat room is informal and lightly-to-not moderated, with messages being temporary, so it’s ideal for friendly back-and-forth that would otherwise derail discussions. Site rules still apply, but there’s no reporting system or expectation of post-by-post moderation - if something becomes uncomfortable, the right response is to step away. If a topic has substance or lasting value, it still belongs in the forums; everything else can head to chat.

Weekly menu (2026)

I forgot I also bought some Asian eggplants, I rarely buy them because they are expensive, but I got tired of the regular eggplants. So now I must go looking for one.
Maybe tomorrow I will make cinnamon roll, my husband loves this and I can use my walnuts and cinnamon.

You got those long ones that are like cucumber shaped?

Make some Indian stuffed eggplants. Stuffed with coconut, onion, tamarind, ginger, garlic, brown sugar and sesame seeds.
Or some Hyderabadi eggplants Baingan ka Salaan (Hyderabad Aubergines)
Or some Chinese fish fragrant eggplant.

I might try that, but not as spicy, my husband loves Indian food but not too spicy. Maybe Ill make some naan with it.

I might make carrot cake tomorrow, since my husband just bought a brand new bag of carrots, I can also use walnuts in this recipe. Maybe I use yogurt as frosting, not cream cheese.

My husband ate all the vanilla ice cream so I had nothing to go with it. Tomorrow he will make custard to go with rhubarb pie.
I forgot to add flour to the apple mixture. Next time I know.

My daughter made the custard and finished the pie. Only my husband’s pie is left for tomorrow. Must be good to go with custard.
