Weekly menu (2026)

The holidays are over, now we’re back to eating normal.
I just looked at all the weekly ads, this probably Smart & Final.
They have eggs on sale for 99c, maybe its time for quiche, lol.
They have pork shoulder or butt on sale for 1.99c, so It’s on the to buy list. They also have colossal shrimp on sale for $7.99 a pound, this is the size we want. I might get some chicken legs too, they are on sale for 79c a pound.
This shop may not have the cheapest vegs compared to the Persian shop, so I won’t get a lot. Cucumbers are 2 for 99c, maybe I get some avocados, and bananas. We’re not going to Costco this week, so I might get some milk from here too.
Since I’m not going to be eating at home Friday, I might prep my pork and possibly cook it Thursday, my family can eat them for lunch.
Saturday is already pizza day because I have to do D&D.
Sunday will be roasted chicken with balsamic vinegar, my signature dish. Some leftovers, they can have them Monday, which is no cooking day. Lite meal on Tuesday, cooking some shrimp. I have yet to determine what recipe.
So that’s planning ahead for a whole week.

I miss Smart and Final. In 'Vegas there was one across the street, convenient and good prices for what I bought. Nothing like that here...

I just discovered them in the last few years, their meat are very good. They label everything clearly. In our location, they don't have tripes or offals, but in the next town over with a large Hispanic population they offer everything. But too far for me, unless I go there to use the Laundromat to wash large comforter, then I go shopping there.

Finally got the big pork butt, I plan to do pork stew with coconut juice on Sunday. And the rest I will put in the freezer, for later use. My husband wants to minimize cooking before we go to our vacation.
So menu for Wednesday or today is Shakshuka, one with eggs and one with sardines. I now finally have some eggs.
Thursday - I’m going to eat out after a D&D operation, I want to try a new restaurant. Will take some food back to my daughter.
Friday - haircut day, so my husband will walk to our local burger joint, my daughter and I will have some leftovers.
Saturday - another D&D operation, last one before our vacation, we are going to order pizza.
Monday - leftover pizza or stuff from the fridge
Tuesday - El Pollo Loco, this is one reason my husband didn’t want me to buy chicken.
Wednesday- Hawaii here we come, I’ve been looking at some of the food menu online to remind me.

Sunday is here, I finally get to the big pork butt, waiting for my husband to get out of the kitchen so I can do some slice and dice.
The butt is still looking very fresh. I bought 3 dozens of eggs and as of this morning, only 1 and 4 eggs are left.

I don't understand how you could use that many eggs in such a short time. Am I misunderstanding? You had 36 eggs and only 5 are left? Or maybe 1 dozen plus 4 left. That means you used up 20 eggs.

Stewed pork served with rice and some cabbage in water, kind of like a soup. Surprisingly my husband really liked the cabbage soup.
He said it was good.
The next batch of pork in the freezer will be cooked a la Mexican style. Maybe pork in chili verde sauce, or tomatillo sauce. I better not make it too spicy or my husband won’t eat it.

My daughter just asked me tonight, what’s for lunch on Monday. I then realized the pizza is half gone, even though we ordered an x-large.
So I took out trotter broth, this is for me and my daughter only. My husband can have leftovers.

This recipe is for my pork cubes, I have squash in the freezer, kales from my garden. When I’m back from my trip this is what I’m going to make, nice healthy meal.

The other half of the pork cubes will be used to make pork chili verde, I already have potatoes , onions, and maybe cilantro from my garden.
