What’s going on in your garden (2025)?

So diluted Castile soap is the way to go?
We're a bit in and things are growing! Something is really liking my Basil plant and I can't see/find it. It has to be coming at night, even with the bug box, so now I'm in "kill it bug mode".

It's cool and overcast, perfect for neem oil and the application on the plant.

I've sprayed both top and bottom of the leaves. You can see the sheen from the soap and the oil.

Here's a close up of a solution droplet. The milky white coloring indicates a good dispersal of the oil and soap in the water.

Now everything is planted.

I did buy and mix up neem and castille soap 👍 but so far haven't had to use them. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

I understand the 'no mow May' thing but we didn't get chance to mow in April so as things are now I will have to strim the back lawn before I can even attempt to mow it
Yikes! If I didn’t mow our lawn for the entire month of May, it’d be close to knee-high!

When Kate was alive, we did set aside a huge back corner that we just let go, just to give her her own little meadow to play around in and she loved it (as did the rabbits, mice, birds, and bugs).

I know a lot of hayfever sufferers so I’m not a fan.
Only 5.9% of the UK is built on, I don’t see why it’s necessary to make the lives of people who are already suffering worse. Especially when over 90% of the rest of the land in the UK is available.
It’s strikes me as one of those initiatives thought up to make people feel better whilst avoiding the route causes of declining wildlife.
That’s my tuppence worth and I appreciate others won’t feel the same I just have witnessed the sheer misery grass pollen can bring to someone’s life. I reckon if they built a low pollen town it would be sold out in days.

I was trimming the hedge yesterday, when a pair of visitors arrive.
As is customary in my garden, I offered them food, which they accepted gratefully.
They live in a dead palm tree, about 30 mts down the road and can often be heard chattering away.
They're not even remotely shy, and accepted the offer of a banana from my hand.
