What’s going on in your garden (2025)?

I have found that cucumbers love climbing. Mine grow along the fencing to my veg plot.
Mine is growing along a cheap piece of of not very wide fence I bent into an arch. Next year I'll fashion those a bit stronger and taller so I can grow the squash in the shade of the cucumbers. It's so bright here!

So this is what a cayenne looks like!!!

Tomato plants are cranking them out! This was today. I've got a hornworm trashing my Roma plant I just can't find it. I've ordered a blacklight flashlight...

Picked these this morning. I'm being overrun with cucumbers. I need some wood so time for a trade at the monument place unless they keep well wrapped in damp paper towels in the crisper drawer.

Everything, bell peppers tomatoes and eggplants, that are at the top of the plants are getting sun scalded so I'm picking them and let them ripen on the counter.

Ever tried cooking with them?
No. I made some pickles that said to cook them the other day and now they're mush... That leaves 1 1/2 gallons and no more room in the fridge. I'm making salads or sandwiches mostly. Made a quart of tzatzki last week. These are the everyday garden variety so it doesn't take much heat to ruin it.

I can probably dig out a recipe for cooked cucumbers. I will look.

I can send you recipes for cucumber relish/bread & butter pickles my way, which is cooked and lasts at least 18 months, or piccalilli (mustard pickles) which lasts forever.

The relish would be appreciated! 😃

Here's the chutney/relish recipe Cucumber & onion chutney/relish.
Haven't got any photos available, although maybe tomorrow I can find you one.
This relish is sweet. Unashamedly sweet, but it goes really well with cheeses of all sorts, with ham, undoubtedly with luncheon meat or spam, with hot dogs and with burgers.
