What did you cook or eat today: July 2025

I would clean out their stock every week, but they stopped selling it.
I had exactly the same issue with my local Kroger and Irish bacon.

They started selling it, and I bought every pack they had every time I was in there, which was every 2-3 days.

Then it disappeared - “Hey! Where’d the back bacon go?!”

“That was a new product, wasn’t selling.”

“Bullshit! I was buying all of it you had!”

Thing is, they don’t always count just by a single location, but across an area region, and overall it wasn’t selling. I should have figured that into my purchases and cleaned out 20 locations.

I blame all the choices for absolutely terrible frozen pizza. Seriously, how many does a grocery store have? There is literally an entire aisle dedicated to it. 95% of them are not good.

Took that Sourdough krusty roll and made it an open face hot Italian sub. 😋 🤤

I can't get Irish back bacon, either. I asked the butcher dept. manager about it. He said that he's been trying to get it but just can't. He keeps ordering it but doesn't know why it's not coming in.

When I got back from Atlanta last week, I found half a dozen enormous mangoes which had fallen off the tree. 4.7 kgs in all. Once I'd cleaned them up, removed the bruised bits, skinned them, removed the pits, I had 3.5 kgs of mango fruit, so I made mango chutney. This recipe is probably more Caribbean than Indian, (sweet, more chile, darker because of the addition of raisins) but it tastes great anyway. It made 10 500cc jars in all. Now I've got plenty for upcoming events!

Added some shallot, red bell pepper, cabbage and carrot to the pan i fried DH's eggs in along with my leftover chicken and chow mein with my homemade Asian dressing and teriyaki sauces.
