What did you cook or eat today (May 2025)?

Turkey sandwich from the little store that opened recently, about 15 minutes away:

Also got some homemade toasted coconut marshmallows, homemade jellied nougats, dried apple rings, and a big piece of homemade German chocolate cake.
Yum, just the right amount of turkey!

Some food just isn’t at all photogenic is it.
This creamy mushroom pasta was really very lovely, promise!
It would have been vegan too if I hadn’t of sautéed the mushrooms in ghee, but I did 😂

Cooked it in the outdoor kitchen, it has been lovely and warm and sunny today but we have just had a thunderstorm and heavy rain which was really nice to be outside cooking in, watching the rain pour off the edges of the roof while me n my hob plates stayed nice and dry watching nature do it’s thing 😊

I'm just indulging myself in a cheese & mushroom omelette.
I don't buy fresh mushrooms any more over here; not when the producers want to charge over $20 for a kilo of button mushrooms.
A while ago, I bought a tin of whole mushrooms, just to see, and I used some of them Sunday to make some Chinese spring rolls.
As with most preserved mushrooms, they were dire. Tasteless; utterly and completely tasteless. I even drained the preserving liquid and gently fried them in butter for 15 minutes. Still tasteless, but never mind, the texture was good

Emergency sort of pizza...

I wanted pizza, but no dough ready, not inclined to wait, so I just made a flatbread mixtrure (flour, water, salt), rolled out thin and went that way
Put a layer on top so I could turn the thing to make sure the cheese would be fully melted
It worked, more or less
